Historically, these decisions have disproportionately disadvantaged social and economically marginalized populations and climate-burdened communities, limiting their access to critical services and economic opportunities. Making thoughtful, informed decisions now is vital to achieving an equitable transportation system that contributes to resilient neighborhoods, healthy communities and inclusive economies today and far into the future.

Transportation Equity: Past and Present
We are committed to aligning transportation infrastructure, programs and service investments with the communities that have the greatest mobility needs. Metro has developed a series of equity assessments to support equity considerations across our projects. This Equity Toolkit provides data, historical context, engagement tips, trainings and other resources for Metro staff and partners seeking to complete these assessments. In doing so, you not only deepen your understanding of equity-related topics but enhance your ability to communicate Metro’s history and role in fostering resilient, healthy and economically inclusive communities. You also contribute to Metro’s Equity Platform goals on an individual, departmental and community-wide level.
